• This is a fascinating book that I greatly enjoyed reading. It makes a clear and compelling argument and connects it to personal experience as well as data and academic research. The goal of the book is to explain how the choices made by parents depend on their environment. The authors show for example that when inequality is low, then parents are more likely to give their children more freedom, and they impose more constraints and incentives on them when inequality is higher. The book presents a large amount of evidence supporting this argument by looking at changes over time and across countries. The parenting styles described in the book are based on the developmental psychology literature and the authors also discuss the evidence from that literature.
  
  I like how the authors emphasize that we should not assume that parenting styles in earlier decades or in other countries are wrong simply because they differ from what we find optimal. Clearly, parenting differs across time and countries (the authors provide many examples), but that’s also because the environment in which parents make their choices differ. I find this very plausible and witnessed it myself growing up in two different countries and with different families. It’s fascinating to read the many great examples in the book for how the environment affects parenting and how economics helps explain it. I think the book is relevant for virtually everyone, because it helps us understand the choices of our parents, and the own choices as parents. The book is well-written and full of examples, I highly recommend it.
• Unbelievable omission the book is a comprehensive comparison of parenting styles across several countries. It uses parenting styles observed and "developed" by Urie Bronfenbrenner from a 1970s comparison of parenting styles in the US and the USSR. No mention of Bronfenbrenner's name in the index. As far as I can tell, no mention of it is the footnotes. There is no bibliography so it is difficult to tell whether the authors are even aware of this scholar's work. How can they not be? Frustrating and unprofessional.
• Personally, I find the book quite interesting and make me keep on thinking about my daily practices as a new mom of my little boy. Reading the book is a great experience in knowing what are the possible explanations for different parenting styles over time and across countries. Literally, I have no background in economics. But the book is still quite friendly for readers like me and quite convincing. I like the idea of using economic constraints to understand parenting choices. Reading the book reminds myself of some of the exercises done by my parents and also makes me seriously re-evaluate some of my daily actions with my son. This is really an interesting experience.
  
  Anyway, I highly recommend the books to all of you guys in case you would like to understand the relationship between parents and kids deeper.
• This book is helping me to understand things I’ve observed anecdotally living in various countries, as a curious and loving parent, wondering about all the same things as Zillbotti and Doepke. They help explain the increase in parenting intensity from our own childhoods to those of our children. The change has been a dramatic one in terms of investment. They are able to formalize, in a very readable way with anecdotes aplenty, many of what I pondered and discussed over the years with other parents from umpteen cultures, schools and academics. Bravo - look forward to finishing this book and may post some more again!
• The book "Love, Money, and Parenting" by Matthias Doepke and Fabrizio Zilibotti provides economic explanations about the changing of parenting styles over time as well as its cross-country differences. The primary goal is to unveil how socio-economic conditions, for example, income inequality, cultivates the parents-children relationship.
  
  Also, as a mainland Chinese who has lived in Sweden, Denmark, and Switzerland and now moved back to Hong Kong, reading the book reminds me of quite a lot of different daily scenarios of parenting that I met in my life. The reasoning of linking them with economic constraints together with income inequality and the scientific shreds of evidence the authors provided make the story convincing for me.
  
  Also, even though the book, as indicated by the authors, is not another "user guide" of child-rearing, as a new dad, I personally find the book quite useful in terms of a better understanding own parenting choices that looks like instinct at first glance, but turns out to have deeply rooted economic reasoning. As a matter of fact, before reading the book, both my wife and I have taken online tests. The test told that the baby's dad tends to be the permissive type while the mom is the authoritarian type. How should we coordinate with each other to offer a better living environment for our little boy? Any answer to such a question pre-requisites the understanding of what are the forces that shape the child-rearing decisions. And the book provides us with economic reasoning, which turns out to be helpful. Therefore, I do recommend the book to all, especially those young parents.
• This is a very compelling and comprehensive book on parenting style and its determinants in the past, present and future. The book takes the reader on a fascinating journey starting from the authors’ own parenting experience (great anecdotes!) and ending with an outlook how trends in inequality and institutions will shape the parenting of the next generation. The book’s argument is carefully connected to the latest academic literature and vast empirical evidence. At the same time it is very entertaining to read and provides a lot of food for thought.
  
  I read the book while commuting to work and enjoyed every bit of it. Highly recommended to all readers interested in family economics, education, and inequality and to all present and future parents!

• I am an Irish person living in the US, who has a strong interest in the so-called troubles in Ireland and everything that surrounds such. I bought this book about 2 weeks ago, and immediately found that I was engrossed in it.
  
  The author, Sean O’Driscoll does a great job at describing characters and locations. Through the descriptions, you actually can visualize the key parties, and are given a front row seat to David Rupert’s activities. Often it seems like a work of fiction, but this is actually true. It is well researched, and written and I would not hesitate in recommending it to any person that’s wants a good read, and to also become versed on the events over the last few decades around the central character.
• I work at the salon that is referenced in this book and I never knew a thing that David and Maureen were going through. Maureen is one of the greatest people you will ever meet and I'm now in awe of all they've been through. Praise God they were kept safe and lived to tell this amazing story. I'm blessed to have meet them.
• This book was an amazing story of a courageous American couple who took down an entire terrorist organization! I can't imagine what they must have been through! I learned alot about the politics of"the troubles" through Sean's writing and hope for lasting peace for Ireland.. This book is a must read..I couldn't put it down!
• Sean O'Driscoll has done a great depiction of the fight to tamp down the backlash of the virulent Irish Republican Movement and its Paramilitary Wing, to the Good Friday Peace Agreement with the cooperation of several countries Security Services using a very unorthodox and unlikely operative, and it worked.
• Knew very little about this story. Very informative. Want to read more about The Troubles. Good luck David and Maureen.
• While my copies of this book are en route, I write in response to a few of its pages sent to me.
  
  WHOLE CLOTH FABRICATIONS in this book include
  
  1) Rupert falsely claims to have been present in a conversation with Frank O’Neill and me. I met Rupert but once; momentarily. It was at our Friends of Freedom (FOIF) fundraiser in Chicago’s Schorsch Hall where my only, once-ever, communication with Rupert was limited to brief salutations. I saw Rupert on only two other occasions, from afar. One was a fundraiser at the Abbey Pub in Chicago where I merely looked in from the door; the other at the Dublin “trial” of Michael McKevitt.
  2) Rupert falsely claims that I once phoned him (Rupert) and even writes a conjured conversation.
  3) Rupert falsely labels “FBI investigations” what had actually been criminal frame-ups and incarcerations of me and others by FBI Agent Buckley who later became Rupert’s handler.
  4) Rupert falsely claims that O’Neill and I “…fell out a lot.” We never once disagreed except on one issue; the vote as to purchasing weapons for the IRA for which O’Neill was urgently advocating under pressure (unknown to us) from Rupert in a new FBI attempt to imprison us. FBI Agent Buckley had already been caught twice criminally framing us. Once in Case US91CR911 when Buckley had incarcerated us based upon FBI audiotape evidence that proved to be massively fabricated. Buckley had previously framed me for the murder of the Langert family while he prohibited the local police from investigation their sole suspect, the actual murderer, 16-year-old David Biro using FBI Agent Lewis’ 357 Magnum. My freedom, if not my life, was saved when Biro blabbed through Buckley’s cover for him into Life Without Parole for two 1st Degree Murder, one Homicide, Breaking & Entering, etc. He remains in Downstate Illinois Pontiac Prison. I had never heard of Biro or his victims until news of the murders.
  5) Rupert falsely claims that I accused him and many others of being spies. I had no basis for such accusation having met him only once, briefly, and far from suspecting him it was a complete shock when years later, about 2002, the British Crown decided to “out” Rupert in order to use him as a “witness” against McKevitt.
  6) I did “out” two other long-time FBI moles in Chicago by exposing their deeds.
  7) Rupert falsely claims “… the Fogartys were highly suspicious of newcomers, especially ones trying to push them into weapon purchases.” We did not know then that O’Neill’s unprecedented exhortations to acquire weapons for the IRA were being prompted by Rupert during secret meetings at O’Neill’s house every Tuesday at 10 a.m.
  8) Rupert falsely claims that we ("the Chicago Four") were charged with “supplying materials to the IRA.”
  9) Rupert falsely claims “Fogarty began to imagine bugging devices everywhere.” Having no contact with Rupert I had no reason to suspect him. He managed to split O’Neill from the FOIF and the two of them set up, unknown to O’Neill, an FBI false-flag operation. When, about 1993 I discovered that Rupert had fraudulently set up an “FOIF” web site soliciting funds to his personal P.O. Box at 41st & S. Halsted Sts. I notified the national Co-Chairs of the FOIF. They forced Rupert and O’Neill to cease using the name FOIF. They promptly adopted thenceforth the name of another existing organization, the Irish Freedom Committee.
  During the years 1993 to 2002 while O’Neill was deceived by Rupert he did much damage to his own noble life’s work for justice. O’Neill’s life, from Rupert’s 2002 outing until his (O’Neill’s) death in 2011 was an agony of remorse. My wife and I were with him the day he died; saw his weakness while undergoing exercise, notified his wife and sister, and they were with him when he died later that day.
  Throughout this book runs, despite homicide records to the contrary, the false notion that the terrorists are Irish republicans and that Rupert was on the side of justice (despite the Omagh dead and New York State Police affidavit that categorizes him (Rupert) "a lifelong criminal."
  A take-away thought Because Britain had publicly agreed to bear the cost of repairing damage inflicted during the conflict, the IRA began bombing town centers. The first five were all bloodless. Then MI5 and the FBI got involved (as did Rupert) in the sixth bombing. This, the sixth bombing, which caused the deaths of twenty-nine innocents, was evidently “Mission Accomplished” as MI5 demobilized them by eMail to Rupert that evening. It speaks for itself that no authority; not the British, nor Irish, nor U.S., want to know what Buckley and Rupert were doing in Ireland during those years. By defeating the IRA and thus freeing up British forces, the Omagh massacre enabled the Neo-Cons’ wars in Iraq, etc. Omagh was incredibly fortuitous for the Neo-Cons. What other reason exists for the non-investigation of Agent Buckley’s and Rupert’s years in Ireland and involvement with the bombers? The transcript will show that Rupert, while “testifying” in Dublin in 2003 volunteered that Buckley had once "left me (Rupert) all alone” in Ireland while Buckley flew to the Atlantic Olympics (1996) bombing murder site. This fact is significant.
  Any bona fide investigation of Omagh will show that it was a continuation of the pattern of previous crimes by Rupert, FBI Agent Buckley, and MI5. I possess notes made weeks prior to the Langert murders when honest, but petrified FBI Agent Joseph Doyle alerted my wife and me that some of his fellow agents had been bribed by MI5 and were consequently planning crimes to "silence" us (our human rights campaigns in Illinois, Chicago City Council and the US Congress). Was Buckley's 1994 deployment (with Rupert) to Ireland despite his many crimes in Chicago for MI5, or because of them? For MI5 benefit, Agent Buckley forbade the Winnetka, Illinois police from investigating murderer David Biro who had used FBI Agent Lewis' 357 Magnum to murder the Langert family. Buckley (and an FBI mole) then got Chicago's news media to link the IRA to that crime; before framing me for it so cunningly that I was doomed until murderer Biro saved me by blabbing through Buckley's cover for him, into prison.
  During Agent Buckley's brief departure from Ireland to Atlanta, he and his FBI colleagues got the news media to frame yet another innocent for that bombing murder, thus keeping the actual murderer at large as he had done for murderer Biro in Chicago.
  Here is one of many powerful but circumstantial pieces of evidence After we defeated both sets of FBI crimes against us; the framing of me for murders, and in completely separate Case US91CR911, we had a damages case against the FBI perpetrators that would have, with punitive damages, resulted in $millions not only for us, but $millions for our lawyers. It was a dream, case-already-proven windfall for any attorney. but all seven of our attorneys who had successfully defended us refused to take our damages case. Later we found that, among the eighty or so lawyers and law firms, none was willing to accept the case, though initially avid to get it.
  The Accidental Spy is another layer of lies to conceal previous official lies that conceal not only the Omagh mass murder but the Supreme Crimes (per Nuremberg Verdict) in Iraq, etc. that Omagh enabled. Ghost-Writer Sean O'Driscoll and life-long criminal Rupert deserve each other.
• I truly enjoyed this book. Very exciting and interesting. I am looking forward to reading again after I read up on some Irish History. Well done.

• This book starts shortly after the ending of the previous book, The Designs of Lord Randolph Cavanaugh Lord Kit Cavanaugh has moved to Bristol to start a new venture, Cavanaugh Yachts. He has rented a warehouse and plans to open shop immediately along with his friend and business partner Wayland. They want to take occupancy immediately, but learn a charity has been using it and they need a few days to vacate.
  
  Sylvia Buckleberry learns from the officers of the Dock Company that they have rented the warehouse that she uses for a school and that she must vacate immediately. She knew that it was a possibly that they would lose the space, but with the decline in shipbuilding, she never really thought it would happen. She tries to find another space for the school, but as they haven't the money in the budget for rent, she is faced with the real possibility of having to close. She is upset and barges into Kit's office and rages at him. Kit is stunned and intrigued, the Sylvia he met at his brother Rand's wedding was an ice queen and nothing like this fiery woman. He waits until she is finished with her rant and offers to help find another place for the school - even offering to pay the rent. Sylvia is surprised, she has always harbored a secret crush for Kit, but his reputation was one of a rake and she refused to fall prey and kept her distance from him. But this Kit is nothing like the rumors she heard and she wonders if she misjudged him. They work together and find a place for the school and Kit goes about setting up his new business, but he is drawn to Sylvia and makes excuses to see her.
  
  When the school is threatened, Kit immediately comes to her aid and when someone sabotages his workshop, he wonders if the events are related and vows to protect Sylvia. They again work together to find the villain or villains and a bond develops between them. Kit decides that Sylvia is the woman for him, but needs to take things slowly. Sylvia finds herself falling for Kit all over again, but doesn't know if he feels the same and is not sure if she can trust her instincts as they were so wrong before. But when Sylvia's life is in peril, nothing will stop Kit from saving the woman he loves and he will prove once and for all that she is meant for him.
  
  The ending is fantastic and I liked that Kit was determined to win Sylvia honorably, but a bit more steam would not have been amiss. This was a good story, but it was wordy, dragged a bit and some of it was down-right dull and boring, add to that the misuse of his honorific (which happened in the last book as well) and this was a fair to middling story at best, good but just not great. This is the second book in the Cavanaugh series, but it could easily be read as standalone title.
• This book was fantastic. The story moves along quickly with a hopeful tone. The storyline is both action and character oriented, but the characters are the strongest recommendation of this story. Kit is finally coming into his own, after the horrors of his mother's machinations. He has no plans of doing more than building superior yachts, until a fire-breathing lady takes him and his new business to task for setting her school out on the streets! There are lots of twists and turns and a good many surprises. There were a few mildly steamy scenes, but not until over halfway through the story. You want to at least read book one, about Lord Randolph, before this. But I really think you should also read The Taming of Ryder Cavanaugh before either of these. I can't wait to see the next story, which I think will be the sister Stacie. Enjoy!
• The only problem that I had was that the villain came out of left field and I had a problem relating to him. No matter, she s still one of my favorite authors.
• Not as good as previous books but can't put my finger on why I just didn't like the characters that well.
• After watching the way the connection starts at the end of Rand and Felicia’s book, I was looking forward to seeing where Kit’s story would take us. And I’m happy to report that I quite enjoyed it. Kit is very much like his brother in that he’s very aware of the ways his mother’s actions have scarred him. Yet Sylvia’s contrary nature intrigues him to the point he’s willing to overcome his past history. I was a little concerned by Sylvia when we first see her striding into the fray like an avenging harpy. I was worried that she was going to turn out to be one of those overbearing, managing heroines I thoroughly dislike. Thankfully, that fear was unfounded. The romance was a slow build as we followed our leading couple through their days. I appreciate the amount of research that has obviously gone into this book but, like its predecessor, it goes way too far into the minutiae of Kit and Sylvia’s passions. For myself, I didn’t need to know about the building of tool racks or schoolboys’ lessons or many of the other tidbits peppered throughout the story. The intrigues come from many varied sources and successfully kept me guessing all the way to the end. Partly, I suspect, because there’s no real clues provided that would have allowed me to predict most of them beforehand.

  It becomes clear to this intrepid pair that someone else wants to put an end to both the school and Cavanaugh Yachts.
  This well written book is a page turner. Stephanie Laurens never fails to entertain and intrigue her readers.
  This latest Cavanaugh novel releasing in late April/early May is not to be missed.
  The characters are delightful for the most part and as usual for this author they pull you right in.
  I gave this book 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization.

Book One

• The focus of the stories is on the relationships, with some mystery and suspense. Plenty of HEA's, with original story lines, but just a touch of repetitiveness. Overall, I found myself engaged and curious as to what would happen next. The author draws you in emotionally. I enjoy reading a long series with connecting characters.
• I got 5 full books for a dollar! Can't beat the value. Each book has a HEA although a few books seemed to end a little abruptly. Might just be me, bc I kept reading. Enjoying. I did notice a very few typos, which seem to have become acceptable in today's literature. That's why only 4 stars. Each book concerns an operative at the same security company. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.
• Intense how five people find love in the last place they would least expect it. Amazing how there life’s connect to each other.

• I did enjoy this set of books...I read to be entertained, and this particular author informed in a very subtle way as well. Knowing very little about the security business, I got just a small glimpse into why people seek security.
• Stories of 5 men who worked on Security how they found their loves. Romance and intrigue with each of the stories having a different story line and happy ending
• Murder, mystery and romance? Yes, yes and absolutely! This set of books was so much fun to read! I would recommend to everyone!
• These boojs are good reads and are different enough yo keep you interested. Thw books have good charactets and enough mystery to keep you going. Sit back and enjoy

• I’ve read and loved the series, the first two were brilliant and the third was acceptable although not as good as the earlier ones.
  
  This - fourth - book has a wonderfully convoluted plot that wraps up the Jiff/Dante arc while including old favourite characters like Frank and Suzanne.
  
  Unfortunately, the editing is so bad that parts of the scenario make little or no sense and typos or errors where it’s obvious the wrong word or description was used.
  
  Hopefully, this is a case of “Sophomore Slump” and Ms. Mooney will be back in form with the next adventures of Meaux and his humans.
• Ms. Mooney is one of the writers who have the ability to capture a reader's interest from the beginning of the book. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
• From one moment to the next, the story kept my interest. Revisiting New Orleans was pleasure, since it's one of my favorites. The characters are all believable, and I enjoyed being the observer as if I were living with everyone.
• When the Judge of the Year is murdered and Brandy turns up at his house shortly after the murder, she is raring to investigate. Judge Whit had several ex-wives and many enemies, and Capt. Dante Deedler doesn’t want Brandy involved. He’s in love with her and is jealous of her relationship with attorney Jiff. Lots of suspects.
• I found books 1 through 5 in this series to be delectable reading. Book 6, however, was a large disappointment to me. Brandy playing kissy-face with Dante was way out of integrity, to say the least. Jiff deserves so much better. Dante's sudden attained ability to be present was completely unconvincing. They say hope springs eternal and if there is a book 7 I will certainly buy it optimistically anticipating Brandy to get a grip.
• Brandy Alexander has stumbled into another mystery again! Can Jif , Dante and Brandy figure out who killed the Judge and why? Is Dante trying to woo Brandy away from Jif?
• Ms Mooney has written a fun series with some interesting characters. The smart, witty characters keep the reader wanting more.
• I have lived near New Orleans, so I enjoyed reading about places I knew. I also enjoyed the plot line, and always great to have dogs included .

• As someone who struggles with organization with a house of 4 kids I was so excited to get this book. However, I feel like I’m just looking at a collaboration of instagram inspirational photos telling me what everything is when I can clearly see that with the labels on everything. The biggest downfall for me is that there is no buying guide, like what’s the name of the bin, label, drawer etc. At least on Instagram you can ask questions and find out or they link the containers. I bought this book to help me organize and they have awesome organizational skills and it is funny I just would love to be able to look in the book and find the things that would fit my organizational need and then know where to go, or what to buy.
• Wow, where are all of these amazing reviews coming from?? I read the entire book in less than an hour, and the only new thing I came away with was remove items from original packaging before putting in pantry. Every other single tip can be summarized as 1. Get nice closet shelving, such as California Closets, in every storage space. 2. Get clear storage bins for said shelving. 3. Organize everything in those clear, labeled bins by category, color, function, etc. 4. Label every storage bin.
  
  When I saw a picture in the book of a so-called organized kitchen drawer with all of the nice kitchen knives laying on top of one another with no separation, I nearly lost it. You NEVER, EVER lay kitchen knives in one bin/drawer sleeve on top of one another. It’s a really, really good way to get cut, not to mention that you’re really gonna F up your nice chefs knives. With all of the name dropping they did in the book, you’d figure they are used to clients with pricey chefs knives. Some of my best knives were hundreds of $$, and there is no way you’ll ever find them nestled together in a drawer. They’ll be in a knife block or on a magnetic strip. To me, that seems like organization 101!!!!
  
  Finally, the pics are beautiful and inspirational, but save yourself money - you can find exactly the same stuff on Pinterest for free and buy cool organizing bins with the money you saved!!
• The book itself has many attractive photos. Essentially it is a book of organized spaces with suggestions. I enjoy books like this more for their inspiration than for concrete suggestions. My main disappointment is that even though the book was shrink-wrapped, there were no refrigerator labels. I know it isn't the end of the world, but when you look at the back of the book and it says "includes a starter set of labels" and the labels are mentioned in the book, that is a source of frustration.
• Love following their Instagram account, but the book just includes pics already on the site with very little text or tips on how to achieve what is in the pictures in my opinion. Not a fan of the way the pics try to capture entire rooms and then you can’t really see them because of the book binding either. The included labels are a nice perk, but I’d save the money on the book for product instead.
• Never thought a book about organizing would be interesting, hilarious, beautiful, and life changing...but this one is. A pantry can be functional AND PRETTY. Taking everything out of cardboard boxes and placing them in labeled baskets and lucite turn tables? Yes please. Never have I ever taken such joy in putting an “every day” drawer together in my bathroom for eye pleasing grab and go items. The labels included in the book are upping my fridge game. Now even my coffee table is prettier with the rainbow tabbbed pages in the book! Thanks for making my house pretty and organized. Well. Done. Ladies. 👏🏻🌈
• I loved this book! It is organized by area-such as-the refrigerator, under the sink, the closet, the pantry. Not only does it spell out good ideas, but each section has lots of beautiful pictures! And since none of us have the same size pantry, closet, laundry room-it shows all different types-from “to die for laundry rooms” to a basic laundry room. Fun book to get great ideas!!!!
• Don't think twice about buying this book. I recieved my copy today and I'm only a few pages in and I'm already obsessed. I know I'll be partially neglecting my children to read it all day. #lowbarlifestyle 😂 The kids will thank me when I no longer have to specify where every single item goes in my house, because they'll finally KNOW! So excited! The book also comes with labels that are so beautiful and I can't wait to use them!
